Portable Apps to help you fix your computer
If you’re one of those people that all your friends and family come to when they’re having computer problems then i’ve found some tools that you can put on your flash drive to help you fix their computers. All these programs are free and take very little time to download and save to a flashdrive.
1. JKDefrag is a open source portable disk defragmenter that will fit on most any removable media. It’s very easy to use, very quick and gives the user several optimization options to choose from.
2. Darik’s Boot and Nuke This is a great program for securely erasing all information off a hdd. There’s also a tutorial available for DBAN here.
3. Avira UnErase This is a nifty file recovery program, it’s free and you can download it no problem, however the manufacturer no longer supports it.
3. K-MACThis program is for mac address problems.
4. CLAMWIN ANTIVIRUSIs a great anti-virus program that can easily be put on a flash drive with the instructions on their website.
5. Spybot Search and Destroy You have to download and install this one to your flash drive then use it to scan another computer.
6. System Spec This is a great tool that gives you the specs of your computer that you can save and print out.
7. UnInstall Cleaner Ever have problems with programs not remove completely off your computer? This application will help with that problem and clean up the registry during the process.
8. Portable MV Regclean Here’s another registry cleaner application.
9. CCleaner Is a free pc optimization tool that gives you a choice of the build you want. So you can easily download the portable version for a flash drive.
10. AutoRuns Is a very extensive start up monitor, great for finding out what programs are configured to run when you start up and log in.
These are just a a lot of other programs that I’ve come across while looking for something to writeup. You can also go places like PortableApps and get a full software suite package for your flash drive. You’ll see some of the programs listed in this article are actually part of the portable apps software.
