MySQL database within cPanel

cpanel SQL stands for Structured Query Language. SQL is an international standard in querying and retrieving information from databases. MySQL is essentially an SQL server – it responds to requests for information that are written in SQL. To use a MySQL database, you must first create it, and then add one or more users to it.

To access the MySQL Account Maintenance menu, click on the icon above the words MySQL Databases on the main screen of your cPanel interface.

Enter the name of the new database in the blank field next to Db.

Click on Add Db to create the database.

You will need to create at least one database user and grant that user permission to use the new database.

To add new users to an existing database just click on the icon above the words MySQL Databases on the main screen of your cPanel interface.

Enter the name of the new user in the blank field next to Username.

Enter a password for the new user and click Add User to create the new user.

You can also grant the user permission under the MySQL Databases menu by selecting the user you want to give access to from the drop down menu next to User.

Select the database you wish to grant the user access to then select any privilege you want that user to have for that database. Click on Add User to Db to grive the user permission to access the database
